Questback Survey Questionnaire

Dear Participant,

Smartphone applications (apps) to track food intake are becoming increasingly popular both for consumers and in research. These apps focus on assessing food intake and giving feedback to users in commercial apps or supporting further analysis in research projects. As part of a Master and a PhD project at the Faculty of Life Science: Nutrition, Food and Health, University of Bayreuth, we are investigating the usability of different apps that are commonly used to track food intake. Our goal is to develop tracking apps that are as user friendly and comfortable to use as possible.

To take part in this study, you need to be at least 18 years old. Please fill in this questionnaire on a computer or a tablet, not on your smartphone, to be able to read all questions and description in this study. By taking part in this study you are making a valuable contribution to the research in our group. There is no monetary compensation associated with taking part in this study.

As part of this questionnaire, your will be asked to
(1) provide your age, gender and education level,
(2) read the description of a typical food tracking app and answer a few questions about the app,
(3) tell us about your previous experience with nutrition apps and use of technology in general.

Please take your time when reading the questions and potential answers. There are no right or wrong answers – we are solely interested in your opinion. Completing this questionnaire will take you about 15 minutes.

The questionnaire is confidential, and the information collected will be used only for research purposes. Participation is entirely voluntary. You may withdraw your consent to participate at any time during the study.

The results of this study will be published as an academic publication. All data presented in the paper will be anonymized, i.e., the data cannot be mapped to individual participants. Data will be stored electronically for at least 10 years. In addition, the anonymized data will be made publicly available through a web-based archive (e.g., Open Science Framework, ZPID). In doing so we follow the recommendation of the German Research Foundation (DFG) and the German Society for Psychology (DGPs).

Please get in touch if you have any questions.

Thank you very much for participating and you support!
