1. What is this study about?
This study investigates farmers´ willingness to adopt advanced digital technologies for precision fertilization. The goal is to improve nutrient use efficiency in agriculture and reduce environmental damages.
2. Who is organizing and conducting the study?
The study is organized by Technical University of Munich (TUM).
In cooperation with:
Natural Resources Institute Finland (LUKE);
University College Cork – Nanotechnology Group;
Move On Technology Inc.;
Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation (IUNG).
3. How many people will participate?
There will be 800-1000 participants across 3-4 countries.
We expect 250-300 people in each country to take part in the study.
4. How long does the survey take and what will participants have to do?
This survey takes approximately 15-20 minutes.
The survey consists two parts: (1) a choice experiment and (2) general questions.
The first part is a choice expüeriment. Participants will choose between different agricultural technology alternatives and indicate which they would adopt. The second part is about some general questions. Participants need to answer questions about farm characteristics, socio-economic status, personal perceptions and attributes.
5. Is there any cost/ benefit (compensation) for participating?
(1) Participating the survey is free of charge. There will be no exicisting costs.
(2) The results of the study will be used to develop better technology and policy solutions for farmers and society in the future.
6. Data Protection Information:
In this study, Dr. Fabian Frick and Kai Chen from the Chair of Agricultural Production and Resource Economics, Technical University of Munich, are responsible for data processing. The legal basis for processing the data is the participant’s consent (Art. 6(1)(a) and Art. 9(2)(a) of the General Data Protection Regulation – GDPR). All data will be treated confidentially at all times.
The data will be collected exclusively for the purposes of the study described above and will only be used within this context.
All data are collected in anonymized form, meaning that no one—including the study leaders—can identify which participant the data belong to.
The data will be stored at the Chair of Agricultural Production and Resource Economics, Technical University of Munich.
Your data will not be transferred to other institutions in Germany, within the EU, to third countries outside the EU, or to international organizations.
The research data may be used for scientific publications and/or made available to other researchers in scientific databases for an unlimited period of time. In such cases, the data will only be used in fully anonymized form, so that it is not possible to identify individual participants.
Providing consent for the processing of your data is voluntary. You may withdraw your consent at any time without giving a reason and without any disadvantages for you. After withdrawal, no further data will be collected. However, the lawfulness of the data processing carried out prior to the withdrawal remains unaffected.
You have the right to access your data, including receiving a free copy of the data. You may also request correction, restriction of processing, blocking, deletion of the data, or data transfer where applicable.
